Our Chapter Territory

We serve 29 counties in Southwest Missouri. These counties are: Barry, Barton, Carter, Cedar, Christian, Dade, Dallas, Dent, Douglas, Green, Hickory, Howell, Jasper, Laclede, Lawrence, McDonald, Newton, Oregon, Ozark, Polk, Pulaski, Ripley, Shannon, Stone, Taney, Texas, Vernon, Webster, and Wright. Within these counties it is estimated there are more than 22,000 persons diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease or a related disorder.

Our mission
The Alzheimer’s Association, Southwest Missouri Chapter’s mission is to eliminate Alzheimer’s disease through the advancement of research to provide and enhance care and support for all affected; and to reduce the risk of dementia through promotion of brain health. We are proud to offer programs and services to the 29 counties we serve in Southwest Missouri.

No one should face Alzheimer's alone

If you have been diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease or a related dementia, or if you are experiencing changes in your memory, this section is for you. The first thing you should know is that you are not alone. There is a lot of help and support available.

In this section, you will find tips and resources to increase your comfort, allow you to remain active, and help you cope. But more important, we hope you will find the inspiration to make your years ahead the best that they can be.

Helpline

The Alzheimer's Association Helpline operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, in 140 languages. Our staff is highly trained and knowledgeable about all aspects of Alzheimer’s disease. Call us if you have questions about:

  • Alzheimer’s disease or memory loss, medications and treatment options, brain health and care options

  • How the Association can help you

  • Caregiving tips and respite care options

  • Services available in your community and referrals

Support groups

We offer a variety of support groups for all individuals living with Alzheimer’s disease. Groups are facilitated by trained volunteers. Many locations offer specialized groups for children, those with early-onset and early-stage Alzheimer’s, adult caregivers and others with specific needs.

Message boards

The Alzheimer’s Association message boards and chat rooms provide an online community for persons with Alzheimer's, caregivers and care providers. Our message boards have thousands of registered members from around the United States and thousands more who refer to the stories and information that is available 24 hours a day.

The Alzheimer’s Association offers dozens of fact sheets and brochures. Click here for a listing.
