OACAC of Missouri

Ozarks Area Community Action Corporation (OACAC) is a not-for-profit agency working toward alleviating the causes and conditions of poverty in the Ozarks. OACAC serves Barry, Christian, Dade, Dallas, Greene, Lawrence, Polk, Stone, Taney and Webster Counties. 

OACAC offers seven programs: Family Planning, Foster Grandparents, Head Start, Housing, Low-Income Home Energy Assistance (LIHEAP), Neighborhood Centers and Weatherization.
 
As part of a nationwide network of Community Action Agencies, OACAC continues to fight poverty with new and innovative programs and expanded services for children through Head Start and Early Head Start.
 
From developing programs for families to initiating community projects, OACAC is committed to making the Ozarks a better place to live and work for all residents.

Programs

Family Planning
Offers reproductive health care for women including yearly exams, health screenings, birth control, STD screening and treatment on a sliding fee scale.

Foster Grandparents
A volunteer program for low income senior citizens, who are 55 years of age or older, which provides an hourly stipend for time spent volunteering with at-risk children in the community (through local non-profit agencies and schools).

Head Start
A pre-school experience for children, aged three to five, from income eligible families. Children are taught to have positive attitudes about themselves and their learning and also receive dental and health screenings.

Housing
Subsidizes rent for income-eligible households making it possible for them to live in a home which is decent, safe, sanitary and affordable.

LIHEAP
The Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) offers two programs; Energy Assistance which provides a one-time payment for assistance with winter heating costs for income eligible households and the Energy Crisis Intervention Program (ECIP) which provides relief for eligible households to alleviate an energy-related crisis during the winter and summer months.

Neighborhood Centers
Provides community projects and activities designed to eliminate the  conditions of poverty and to help families in crisis.

Weatherization
Provides free services to income eligible homeowners or renters to make their home more energy efficient.

Please join in the effort to eliminate poverty and create a sense of stability and self-sufficiency for low-income families in Southwest Missouri. Your tax-deductible donation directly benefits those in need, and all contributions stay within the Ozarks. In many cases, contributions also qualify for Missouri State tax credits.
