Member frequently asked quesetions about being a member at the Ozarks Regional YMCA
1. Help! I have a new membership, but don’t know where everything is.
We recommend that you take a tour of the YMCA if you haven’t done so. On the tour, you will become familiar with the entire facility and have an opportunity to ask YMCA staff any questions you may have. Tours are available at any time. Inquire at your branch’s Welcome Center
2. How do I get a locker?
Daily locker service is provided at no charge. Members must bring their own locks. Small kit lockers are available to rent at Jones and Ward branches, and full-sized lockers are available for rent in the Men’s Fitness Center. Ask at your branch’s Welcome Center for details.
3. Can my child come with me into the locker rooms?
Children of the same gender are allowed with supervision in the locker rooms. Coed groups should please use the family changing areas.
4. Where do I find a trainer?
Professional fitness staff or healthy lifestyle coaches are on duty at all times in the fitness areas. They can help you with basic equipment, fitness, and nutrition questions. In addition, as a new member, you will receive a free Personal Fitness Program session, in which you are given valuable advice and information on how to begin and stay with the exercise program of your choice. Personal trainers are also available with appointments for one-on-one, extended, personalized work at an additional fee.
5. What is acceptable dress for exercising?
All persons are required to wear athletic shoes while using the gyms or working out in any of the fitness areas and on exercise equipment. You will find that most people are wearing shorts, tee shirts, sweats, etc. As we are a family organization, please refrain from wearing clothing promoting profanity, liquor and/or cigarette advertisements.
6. Can I bring a guest?
YMCA members are encouraged to bring in prospective members. For this reason, all memberships include unlimited guest passes with a maximum of two guests per member per visit. A single guest may only come a maximum of two times. Passes will be added to your account electronically after processing.
7. Where do I find program information?
Members can receive either a mailed copy of our program guide, published three times each year, or opt to receive an email notification with a link to our website. The website is kept up-to-date and provides online registration. If you choose the email option, please make sure to keep your email address updated with the Welcome Center.
8. How do I register for a class?
You may register at the Welcome Center in the lobby or online. Payment is required at time of registration.
9. Can I register online?
Yes! We offer online registration for sports programs, swimming lessons and fitness programs. You can make child care payments too. It’s fast and easy! You may choose your specific YMCA branch from the pull-down menu on the online registration page or search for programs at all branches.
10. When do I register for a class?
The YMCA program guide is published three time per year. You may register for programs upon publication of those guides. If you have opted to receive program information by email instead, you may register for programs when you receive email notification of new program information.
11. Can my child come with me while I work out? Free child care is available to members during workouts for up to a two hours. The service is for children ages 6 weeks to 9 years. Children age 10 and older may use the facility unaccompanied by an adult. Children under age 10 must be accompanied by someone age 16 or older.Youth ages 10–12 are permitted in the cardio area with the supervision of an adult [certain machines may be excluded]. Children age 12 and younger are not permitted in any free weight area. Monday through Friday, 5-7PM, is designated adult workout time and all individuals in any workout area must be 16 or older.
