Pancreatic Cancer Action Network

At the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, we know that our community network is the driving force behind progress. Join thousands of volunteers, survivors, healthcare professionals, researchers and donors who are making a difference in the pancreatic cancer community.

Founded in 1999 by three visionaries as a small, non-profit, 501(c)(3) patient-based advocacy organization, the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network understands the many challenges that patients and their families face in the fight against pancreatic cancer.

With our national headquarters in Manhattan Beach, California, and a Government Affairs office in Washington, DC, the organization fulfills its mission through a nationwide network of people dedicated to working together to advance research, support patients and create hope for those affected by pancreatic cancer.

Under the direction of President and CEO Julie Fleshman, JD, MBA, the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network comprises a national Board of Directors, a Scientific Advisory Board, a Medical Advisory Council and a staff dedicated to fighting the disease.

Mission

The Pancreatic Cancer Action Network is a nationwide network of people dedicated to working together to advance research, support patients and create hope for those affected by pancreatic cancer.

Research

Better treatments, and ultimately cures, for people with pancreatic cancer begin with scientific research. The Pancreatic Cancer Action Network is committed to advancing pancreatic cancer research through strategic actions. The Pancreatic Cancer Action Network is building a comprehensive pancreatic cancer research community and working to provide the tools and resources this community needs in order to make scientific breakthroughs.

We are expanding the community by awarding research funding to the most promising and innovative investigators and providing career support and mentorship to early-career scientists. To date, the organization has awarded over $10 million in research grants through a rigorous peer-review process and has spurred numerous scientific discoveries.

In addition, our
advocacy efforts have contributed to an increase in National Cancer Institute annual funding for pancreatic cancer research from $17 million in 1999 to $96 million in 2010. We also work as a convener the research community, bringing together scientists, government, and industry to share information and form collaborations.
